Local S1978 is unique from other Boilermaker Locals. Local S1978 represents both a Surface mine and an Underground mine. We are approximately 150 Union members strong. Our classifications range from Clerks, Drag-line Operators, Janitors, Mechanics, Electricians, Long Wall Operators, to Section Operators etc. Bridger Coal has a Union work force that helps supply the coal to fuel the Jim Bridger Power Plant located in Southeast Wyoming.
